the dailies: mav from port2port press.

Today is a MASSIVE treat. Huge. Mav from Port2Port Press (my first blog love!) is joining us with a VERY visually-inspired daily! Thank you so much, dear Mav, for inviting us into your busy, busy day...
---

6:30a ... the cats wake me up. it's a seriously beautiful sunny spring morning. we still have snow but i can tell the light in my bedroom is changing; it's hitting the walls in places i haven't seen in quite some time. my feet hit the floor, i do a few stretches, turn on NPR and then head straight for the computer to quickly check email. next order of business is to feed the cats and put the kettle on.

7:30a ... breakfast. my favorite meal these days. today it's an oat maple banana muffin (i'm working to perfect this recipe; it has no refined sugar) + greek yogurt. and coffee, black. and then its back to my studio for more emailing, posting to my blog and reading a few of my favorite blogs.

8:30a ... time to clean it up and get to work.

9:30a ... today i'm shipping the card society (my card-of-the-month club). this will take me all day but i will take plenty of breaks for email, snacks, chats and other bits of work.

11:00a ... a break for updating my website. i'm adding my newest collaborative project onto the special projects page today. this is something i should have done at least a week ago but i have been behind. yikes.

noon ... lunch. today it's chicken & chickpea soup from my favorite little grocer. i picked it up when i was there yesterday. i love soup but don't make it as often as i should so picking it up there once a week is super satisfying for my frequent soup cravings. after emailing a bit it's back to shipping!

12:45p ... get antsy shipping and sit down to flickr. somehow find this image by maplesyruponly that makes me feel something wonderful and tingly and happy. "favorite" it and go back to shipping smiling.

2:00p ... my brother calls and wants me to go look at bikes. an excuse to take a break from shipping for an hour or so? sure! i change my slippers for clarks and i'm off i go to look at bikes.

4:00p ... return home, thinking about a beautiful little Bianchi bike i saw, and take the lot to the post office. i love doing old fashioned things with my card club like using stamps and dropping them into the postal slot. each little detail makes it more fun for me.

4:40p ... back home and in the studio, turn on NPR. keep thinking about the man i saw on the way to the PO who was walking with a cat on his shoulder. wish i had had my camera. make a snack, a small pot of tea and get ready for the final work push of the day. this is a hard time of the day for me to be productive but i always try. better just check blogs first ...

6:15p ... pretty much done with work so i decide to call my pal steph in chicago for some chit chat. she owns her own business too so we always end up talking about work distractions, updates on our latest projects and, inevitably, friends babies. i love steph.

7:30p ... a walk into town to return movies. i am lucky to have the company of one of my closest friends, ryan. we run into clover (and her owner: my friend kevin). clover is my favorite dog on the block.

8:15p ... ryan and i have dinner at the blue spoon. such a great spot here in town. we have red wine and talk about life and the pursuit of happiness. same old (in the best of ways!). i drop him off and we see this great sign on the group: DRAIN. i love it and make him stand there. click!

9:45p ... home and feeding the cats again. i have taken my photo for 3191 over dinner so i upload that and save it to my desktop. it just so happens that stephanie has emailed me hers so i set the posting up and make it live. 3.18.08 is now a part of 3191, evenings history. what fun! getting sleepy but have a sink full of dishes first.

10:30p ... in bed with some reading before nodding off. hopefully i'll dream about clouds, or sheep or something else i really like. good night!

It is so inspiring to see how other artists spend their days...and makes me long for the day that I might be able to quit my day job and live my lovely little dream.

Found your blog only a while ago and so happy I did. Thanks!

SHING: I know, right?! How is that even possible??? :)

welcome.

because beauty lies in the details of design. in the pencil shavings, in the blueberry waffles. the vintage dress, framed portrait, old postcard.

design is inevitable. celebrated. design for mankind.
