dfm presents: the dailies with alyson fox.

Happy Monday! So I know you've all been on pins and needles waiting to hear about our next big surprise. If you haven't, well then, you should have been, b/c this one's a goodie.

DFM has been in the works with your fave artists these past few months getting the inside scoop. No interviews, no endless questions; just the deets.

In fact, we care about one thing and one thing only: THE DAY PLANNER.

That's right, we went back to the basics and asked our favorite designers what life would be like in their shoes, for ONE day. Catch us following around folks like Kim and Jo from Desire to Inspire, Jena from Modish, Alyson Fox, Irene from Bloesem, Grace from DesignSponge, Kelly from Little Paper Planes... and many, many more!

Today's kick-off is with one of my personal favorites: Alyson Fox. She's equal parts inspiring and entertaining, and of course, her day is chock full of some really smashing activities. So, without further ado, THANK YOU to Ms. Alyson for divulging her inner most daily duties, and to you readers, for joining me in DFM's newest series: THE DAILIES.
--

So, if you're familiar with Alyson Fox, you'd know that she'd find a day planner a bit too, I don't know, binding. For those of you that don't know Alyson: know three things--- fashion, illustration, and photography. OK, and basically everything else. The girl's got it together.

I love that she creates her own to do lists with spare paper and lets the day unfold from there. Because her days tend to be a bit different depending on the type of project she's hard at work on, her 'typical' day is forever changing. Luckily, DFM caught her for a small glimpse in her life a few Mondays ago while in the middle of preparing for her debut fashion line: A Small Collection.

7:00: Woke up.
7:13: Got out of bed.
7:30: Ran 2 miles, did some yoga.
8:30: Showered, got dressed.
8:50: Checked e-mail, looked at my bank statement, e-mailed some knit factories.
9:24: Grabbed a banana and out the door to pick up printed tanks.
9:38: Grocery store for white helium balloons (got some avocados and oranges).
9:54: Home, worked on getting house ready for videos and photos (New fall).
11:00: Made taco (potatoes, beans, spinach and avocado) and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Styled clothes with jewelry (I heart Anna).
11:58: Model/friend Sarah shows up. Fit her in first dress.
12:11: Model/friend Amanda shows up.
12:30: Shot first dress in bedroom with floating balloons, videos and stills.

1:05: Grabbed rest of clothes, packed into car and stopped at camera store. *Minor camera malfunction!
1:28: Arrived at the laundromat (shot oversized top and drawstring dress). Feeling good about it all!
3:00: Back home, got in last garments. Headed to field for snow scene.
4:00: Downloaded last images, went to grab a small bite with ladies (we shared a falafel wrap, popcorn tofu and a smoothie).
5:38: Back home. Started looking at video and pictures. Love snow scene.

7:00: Helped my fiance a little with dinner. Lettuce wraps.
7:48: Worked on coloring in embossed print of my drawings. Collaboration with Sesame Letterpress.
8:30: Checked e-mail.
10:30: Worked on images. Sent still images to Amanda and Sarah.
10:45: Washed face, brushed teeth and went to bed. Thought about tomorrow.

Truly a day full of inspiration for us all. Thanks, Alyson! On tap for tomorrow? The lovely Jena from Modish. See you then!

Anonymous: I think she's JUST fine the way she is.

welcome.

because beauty lies in the details of design. in the pencil shavings, in the blueberry waffles. the vintage dress, framed portrait, old postcard.

design is inevitable. celebrated. design for mankind.
