happy hour: fashion reel.

It's been a LONG LONG LOOOOOONG week here at DFM, so you can bet my weekend will consist of three things, and three things only: movies, food, and more movies.

I've been thinking of my favorite all-time movies recently, and the thing is? I just love the ones with visual inspiration. You know, the movies that not only carry a great story, but inspire you to make something beautiful out of life. Whether your median is fashion, art or design, these top ten [ok TWELVE, b/c seriously, you can't limit this kind of thing!] are sure to give you loads of inspiration for a windy October weekend.

Enjoy!

all great movies. all great! I love a good lock-in weekend once in a while with a collection of good black & whites on queue on my TiVo. And you have to toss some Cary Grant in there for good measure ;)

Wow! Love your blog. I found out about it via Curbly. Your list includes so many fantastic movies. FWIW, Annie Hall and Bonnie & Clyde both started gen-u-ine fashion crazes back in their day.

I was just thinking about how my favorite movies from the past few years are all visually interesting: I Heart Huckabees, Lost in Translation, and Royal Tannenbaums (the vinyl LP scene in the tent made me positively swoon).

swoon-swoon-swoon! thanks for this. so many of my faves there! i'd have to add casablanca to the list too ~ lots of great design visuals & lovely sentiments both.

Studio Wellspring--- you're SO right. Casablanca totally belongs at the top of the list!!!

welcome.

because beauty lies in the details of design. in the pencil shavings, in the blueberry waffles. the vintage dress, framed portrait, old postcard.

design is inevitable. celebrated. design for mankind.
